Robert D. Dowling, MD
Dr. Robert Dowling is president of Dowling Consultants, located in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to joining SCR, Dr. Dowling served as a Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville, Director of Translational Medicine at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, Director of the Heart Transplant and Cardiac Assist Devices Program and Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support for The Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Dowling, along with Dr. Laman Gray, performed the world's first implantation of the AbioCor®, a total artificial replacement heart, at Jewish Hospital in 2001.
Dr. Dowling received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Allegheny College where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his M.D., general surgery residency and cardiothoracic residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
